Professors Rebeca Castañer and Juan Hernández, from the Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde, together with Professor María García, from the University of Cape Verde, participated in the III International Symposium on Children’s and Youth Literature of Cape Verde, held from May 25 to 27, 2026.

The event brought together researchers, lecturers, and students to reflect on literature aimed at children and young audiences, promoting academic exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue on topics related to reading, education, culture, and the development of new readers.

The team of Spanish professors presented a paper entitled “¿A qué sabe la luna? Pedagogical adaptation for teaching Spanish as a foreign language in the Cape Verdean context”, related to the teaching of the Spanish language to children between 3 and 6 years old through oral literature.

The initiative once again proved to be an important space for sharing knowledge and promoting children’s and youth literature in the Cape Verdean context.
